Must-Do

City hike up the Kapuzinerberg

City hiking on the Kapuzinerberg is the uncomplicated summer highlight in Salzburg: from Linzergasse, the Imbergstiege leads along shady paths up to the Capuchin monastery and further along the Höhenweg. There are several vantage points along the way with views of the old town and fortress, as well as historic walls and small clearings. The route takes around 45 to 90 minutes, depending on your pace, and is easy to moderate with a few steps – ideal for an active break after a stroll through the city.

The Kapuzinerberg is most pleasant in the early morning or in the evening, when it is cooler and the city seems quiet. If you are staying at harry’s home Salzburg, you can reach the start on foot or by bike along the Salzach and begin the ascent at the Imbergstiege. Pack a water bottle, take a short break on a bench with a view – that’s a simple and urban way to experience summer in Salzburg.
